The International Association of Forensic Mental Health Services (IAFMHS) brought together more than 500 participants from 32 countries at Helsinki Congress Paasitorni in June 2026. The conference took place from 16 to 18 June, with pre-conference workshops on 15 June.
The programme explored current research and practice in forensic mental health, focusing on the assessment, treatment and care of people at the intersection of mental health and the criminal justice system. Keynote presentations, workshops and parallel sessions offered opportunities to share knowledge, discuss emerging approaches and strengthen international connections.
Paasitorni’s distinctive architecture made a lasting impression on participants, many of whom regularly attend conferences around the world. The beauty of the venue, and the Congress Hall in particular, was a frequent talking point throughout the event.
The facilities and audiovisual technology supported the extensive programme, while the Paasitorni team was on hand to provide immediate assistance whenever needed. For the organisers, the attentive service began well before the conference: every request was addressed promptly and thoughtfully, helping ensure a smooth experience from preparation to the final sessions.
“The attention of Paasitorni staff prior to the event was also appreciated. Every request and need was addressed quickly and thoughtfully. I can’t recall a conference that ran more smoothly or was as well-received as the Paasitorni. I can’t recommend the Paasitorni strongly enough!” – Barry Rosenfeld, IAFMHS
